trikonasana ~ triangle pose
1} from virabhadrasana 1 (start with the right foot forward, as seen above) place both hands on your hips and straighten your forward leg. pivot your hips to face the side of your mat.
2} send the left him out and reach forward with your right arm. when you can’t reach anymore lower your right hand down to your shin, or to a raised block, on the outside of your right leg.
the point of this pose is about alignment and keeping your body as flat as possible, you can practice this pose with your back against a wall to see if you are flat. you want your shoulders to be stacked on top of one another
3} start to reach your left hand up towards the sky and lengthen out through the finger tips. keep the left arm in one straight line with the right. gaze up towards your left thumb. if there is any discomfort in the neck, turn the gaze down towards your right foot
if you feel your body hinging forward, come up higher on the shin, or higher on a block. keep working the left him back. also notice your right shoulder, if it’s leaning inwards, roll it down the back and away from the ear. lengthen out through the crown of the head.
repeat on the opposite side
You start from where you are.
